Our annual Butterfly Day in conjunction with Butterfly Conservation will take place in the Old Orchard, next to the bridge. Aimed at children aged 5+ to help them engage with nature. We open up two of our conservation meadows for you to enjoy and there are many activities as per the below:
Guided walks through the conservation meadows to spot wildlife and wildflowers;
See the moth caught in traps the night before, part of our annual moth count for Butterfly Conservation. Last year we had a record 153 different types of moth on display.
Free nature related activities;
Music time; and
Entry, parking and activities for this event are free. However, there will be a tombola to raise money for the Butterfly Conservation charity.
Please follow the signs and instructions from stewards on the day. Walking to the event is recommended where possible.
Picnics welcome in The Archery Ground, opposite Iford Manor. Please ensure that you take all rubbish home with you. The Housekeeper’s Tearoom will be in operation from 11am - 4.15pm serving a selection of homemade cream teas, cakes and biscuits, as well as ice-creams and a selection of drinks.
Please note that this event is not held in the gardens and should you wish to visit the gardens then standard entry charges will apply (last entry 3.30pm).
