Job and Volunteer Opportunities

A rare opportunity has arisen to recruit a Senior Gardener in the gardens. This is an exciting time to join the team as many improvements to the visitor experience and garden are taking place following the recent handover of the estate to the next generation.

You will be working directly with our new Head Gardener, Troy Scott Smith, and in his absence be responsible for the supervision and guidance of staff working in the garden and associated areas. The role would suit an enthusiastic, dedicated, hands-on, personable and collaborative individual with extensive plant knowledge, previous experience working in a historic garden open to the public and who can demonstrate existing team management skills.

Propagator and Gardener (part time)

We are seeking to recruit a part-time propagator and gardener (16 – 20 hours over 4 days each week).

Formerly the home of garden designer Harold Peto, the garden is full of old and unusual plants, many of which he collected on his around the world travels in the late 1800s. The role will require the individual to propagate many of these old forms for replanting across the garden and for plant sales to the general public. Plants will need to be grown to be planted in the bedded-out areas and in the container pots which form a key part of the design in areas of the garden for which you will be responsible.
